Visiting the Lake District in October
With the change of season soon upon us, the Lake District in October is just as magical as it is throughout the year. Although some may say, it’s even better! The weather in this neck of the woods, as you’d imagine with Great Britain, can be summed up in one word – unpredictable.
Having said that, it’s not all cold winds and grey skies, in fact far from it. The last couple of days have seen a mini-heatwave and although we can’t promise the same for next month, a little rain never hurt anyone right? Plus, there’s always lots to do when it comes to making the most of luxury spa breaks in the Lake District during October.
However, for many, the Autumnal scenery is when Cumbria is at its best. The array of colours upon the leaves as they change shade and float about in a gentle breeze. Early morning sunrises with an eerie mist rising from Lake Windermere to those romantic sunsets against an incredible backdrop.
All of which amounts to a wonderful time spent out in the open. However, like we say if you do find the weather takes a turn for the worse, fear not. There are an array of museums and such like indoors, along with pubs and restaurants, multi-screen cinemas and live entertainment. Although if all else fails, there’s still your luxurious spa suite, complete with a private outdoor hot tub!

While many of the annual summer events will have been and gone, Autumn brings with it a host of other activities. Whether that be taking to the water with Coniston Steamers and Windermere Lake Cruises or taking the plunge with some wild water swimming.
If it’s an adventure you’re after, with the wind picking up paddle boarding has fast become a fun and challenging past-time. Likewise, the crisper air can make mountain biking and long walks much easier than the heat of summer.
As for what’s on this October, you can always make a last-minute decision as you sample a pint at a local pub or savour traditional cuisine as you discuss your break over a romantic dinner.
